How To Tame A Nautilus In Minecraft

A prehistoric creature has returned to the sea of your Minecraft world, complete with taming, breeding, and a zombie variant that will carry the drowned from the darkest depths. Today, we explore the Minecraft nautilus and zombie nautilus, two fascinating aquatic mobs, examining their features, armor, and favorite food.

Where Do I Find A Nautilus Mob?

Based on the real-world sea creature, the nautilus new mob can be found in any ocean biome, swimming just above the ocean’s floor.

If you want to find nautilus, look for their large white and orange shells, which match their orange-colored bodies, making them decently easy to spot as well. The base nautilus mob behavior is peaceful, but they will defend themselves if attacked, making them a neutral mob depending on the difficulty setting. They can also be led with a lead.

Easy Methods To Tame A Nautilus

Taming a nautilus requires pufferfish, but outside of that, there are no special steps.

Once hearts appear, indicating it is tamed, two can be bred using pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish. Successfully breeding nautilus mobs produces a baby nautilus and puts the parent mobs into love mode. Should your tamed nautilus find itself damaged, they can be fed any fish to recover.

Tamed nautilus mobs can also be ridden after placing a saddle upon their shells. They go wherever the player guides and are fast, with the ability to dash with the spacebar, allowing for greater ocean exploration. This makes the passive mob an ideal underwater mount. Additionally, riding a nautilus grants the "nautilus effect," which provides water breathing, allowing you to breathe underwater and completely negating the loss of your oxygen bar until the nautilus is dismounted. While riding, pressing the main attack button will perform a quick dash attack.

Nautilus Armor

Nautilus armor functions identically to horse armor and has a variant for each resource tier up to diamond. However, this also means that it is not an item you can create yourself.

Nautilus armor comes exclusively from the loot of shipwrecks, ocean ruins, and buried treasure. Once found, you can equip the armor on your tamed nautilus. Should diamond nautilus armor be found, it can be upgraded to netherite using a smithing table, netherite upgrade template, and a netherite ingot. You will want the best armor if you plan to kill spam hostile mobs.

Zombie Nautilus

The zombie nautilus is a hostile mob that spawns in ocean biomes with a drowned riding upon its back. The drowned will guide the zombie nautilus towards players, allowing for a rapid approach and subsequent attack.

Should the drowned rider spawn with a trident as well, they become an extremely dangerous combination that is hard to escape, making this a tough fight, even on peaceful difficulty. This mob's aggressive behavior is the opposite of the neutral base nautilus mob. The spawning of these hostile contents makes the underwater game anything but easy. Defeating them for their loot, however, can be fun, and you should learn the best jump usage to take the fight to the air.
